Obelisk of Khamoon
Obelisk of Khamoon is level 11 of the 1996 Tomb Raider, where Lara lowers four bridges around an obelisk and collects the Eye of Horus, the Ankh, the Scarab and the Seal of Anubis. It has 3 secrets, by Stella's count for the Remastered version.
Obelisk of Khamoon is level 11 of the 1996 Tomb Raider: Lara finds a Sapphire Key, lowers four drawbridges to a central obelisk, collects the four artifacts on them (the Eye of Horus, the Ankh, the Scarab and the Seal of Anubis) and carries them back to the sphinx in City of Khamoon to open the way on. Stella's Tomb Raider Site counts 3 secrets, 38 pickups and 16 kills in the Remastered version. Crystal Dynamics calls the two Khamoon levels the series' first interconnected levels, because the artifacts found here are used back in the city. Walkthrough
The block room and the Sapphire Key. Past the gold doors, climb the ledge and follow the dark passage to a room with four movable blocks and a locked door on the left. Every block hides a panther. Behind the third are a switch that opens a door above, a small medi pack and magnum clips. Behind the fourth is an underwater passage with a crocodile, more ammunition and the Sapphire Key in a far left niche. The key opens the keyhole door to the obelisk. The clip is Look Back Gaming's playthrough of the 1996 game.
The obelisk. Four raised drawbridges lead to the obelisk, each lowered by a switch in one of the rooms around it. Every bridge carries one artifact. In the sitting room a mummy wakes on the stairs; kill it, then pull the window switch to lower the Eye of Horus bridge. The Eye sits beside the obelisk, and picking it up shows a short view of an underwater door.
The other three bridges. Clear two panthers in the tall blue room. In the dark ramp room, two mummies wait below a doorway and wake when Lara hangs from the edge. At the top of the wide stairs another mummy attacks, and the switch on the ivy ledge lowers the Ankh bridge. In the room where slides turn into steps at the pull of a switch, a panther appears. In the room of sarcophagi, two more mummies rise; the switch here lowers the Scarab bridge, and the level's first secret is nearby. In the highest room, one switch lowers the Seal of Anubis bridge and another opens a gold door. The Ankh is on the far side of the obelisk, reached with standing jumps from bridge to bridge.
The pool and the exit. A tunnel under the obelisk leads to a pool where a mummy roams; shoot it from the raised alcove, which holds two sets of magnum clips. Swim back toward the sphinx area of City of Khamoon, take the large medi pack and shells, and set the four artifacts on the pillar in the pool to open the exit.
Where are the three secrets?
- Past the ornate column. In the room of mummies and sarcophagi, past an ornate column: a large medi pack and magnum clips.
- Near the painted columns. A jump from a ledge near the painted columns reaches a small medi pack and Uzi clips.
- Behind the Hathor ornament. A running jump that costs some health reaches a large medi pack and two sets of Uzi clips.

Weapons in Obelisk of Khamoon
There is no new weapon here. Stella lists Obelisk of Khamoon as one of the later places the magnums turn up as a regular pickup for anyone who missed them. See Weapons and Enemies.
Is the obelisk in Legacy of Atlantis?
Not by name, as of Nov 2, 2026. The makers of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis have described Egypt as a city they spell Kamun, a temple to Anubis with a scales traversal puzzle, and an Osiris trial, with new puzzles centered on the Egyptian pantheon instead of the original's. Design director Jason Epps calls Egypt "the most intellectually challenging" region. Whether the obelisk, the four bridges and the four artifacts return has not been said; Anubis, whose seal is one of the 1996 artifacts, does have a temple in the new Egypt. See What's New in Legacy of Atlantis.
