Atlantis Level
Atlantis is level 14 of the 1996 Tomb Raider, a living city of flesh, lava and mutant hatcheries inside Natla's pyramid, where Lara beats her own fleshy doppelganger by luring it into lava and takes the Scion. It has 3 secrets, by Stella's count for the Remastered version.
Atlantis is level 14 of the 1996 Tomb Raider, the second of the Atlantis chapter: inside Natla's pyramid Lara crosses mutant hatcheries, lava rooms and timed doors, beats a fleshy copy of herself that mirrors every move by tricking it into a lava trap, and takes the assembled Scion from its pedestal. Stella's Tomb Raider Site counts 3 secrets, 51 pickups and 32 kills in the Remastered version. Crystal Dynamics describes the level as "gruesome", a mix of stone, pools of lava and flesh whose walls pulse and give birth to monsters. This page is the level; the place and its history are on Atlantis. The clip is Josh Strife Plays on the 1996 PlayStation version.

Walkthrough
The hatcheries. The level opens in a mutant hatchery, where incubators release mutants that throw darts or fireballs. Pick up the Uzi ammo and keep moving with backflips and side flips. The long hatchery room beyond adds winged mutants and more incubators; switches in a dark alcove open doors and start incubators. A tall room with ledges over a lava pool comes next, with fliers attacking from above, and the first secret is just below its ledge.
The pyramid pool and the first timed door. Cross the cave with the transparent bridge, pull a switch to open a fleshy door, and kill a winged mutant. In the pool room under the exposed pyramid, two boulder traps roll as Lara crosses the slope; the second secret is at the top right opening. An underwater lever opens the exit door for about 45 seconds, so Stella advises saving first.
Lava, blades and the throne room. The route runs through a lava slide room, flooded tunnels, an incubator room with underwater doors and five switches, a room of boulders and blocks, a spike trench and a big lava room with a bridge of meat, where another winged mutant drops in. After the third secret, avoid the switch on the right past the red door: it releases lava. A dart ramp with blades and a boulder leads to a throne room, where Natla's seat block moves to open the way on. (Climbing onto all three thrones gives the Remastered achievement "QTN".)
The doppelganger. Past a fleshy doorway with three incubators and a switch that opens the exit, Lara reaches a cave with a mirror-image Lara on the far side. It copies her every move, and Crystal Dynamics notes fans named it "Bacon Lara". Shooting it is pointless; it only shoots back if Lara shoots first. Instead climb the dark rocks and pull the switch that opens a trapdoor for about 40 seconds, then run and jump across the tan blocks. The copy mimics the route from its side, falls into the lava, and the exit door opens. Leaving it unharmed earns the Remastered achievement "Be Like Prince".
The drawbridge and the Scion. A timed drawbridge run follows: one switch opens a door for about 45 seconds, the other raises the bridge for about 15. Pick up the Uzi clips in the Scion room and take the Scion from its pedestal. Taking it ends the level.
Where are the three secrets?
- Below the lava ledge. After the first flier dies in the tall lava room, hang from the ledge, drop to the ledge below and enter the passage: a large medi pack and ammunition.
- The top of the pyramid. In the pool room under the pyramid, climb the flat spots to the top right opening: magnum and Uzi clips and a large medi pack.
- The fleshy ramp. Kill three mutants at the top of a low ramp and step on the plain floor tile; a hidden door opens for about 25 seconds, with Uzi clips, shotgun shells and a large medi pack behind it.

The missing pickup in Remastered
At launch, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered had an Uzi ammo pickup in the big room of Atlantis that could not be collected, so the 51 items and the achievement "Tomb Cleaner" were impossible. The Mar 12, 2024 patch fixed it, and Stella notes that players with an unpatched run need to update and replay Atlantis and The Great Pyramid for full completion. Update 1.2 on Apr 11, 2024 also toned down the red mist in Natla's Scion cutscene here.
Atlantis in Legacy of Atlantis
The remake is named after this place, but as of Nov 2, 2026 nothing of it has been shown. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis lists its fourth region as a mysterious Mediterranean island shrouded in myth, and no official text names the 1996 levels Natla's Mines, Atlantis or The Great Pyramid. Whether the doppelganger returns is not known. The Egypt material calls that region "the turning point" toward the supernatural, with hybrid mythic creatures, but the makers have not described any enemy of the island. The game is out Feb 12, 2027; see Legacy of Atlantis Release Date.
Frequently asked questions

How many secrets are in Atlantis in Tomb Raider? The Atlantis level, level 14 of Tomb Raider (1996), has 3 secrets by Stella's count: one below a lava room ledge, one at the top of the pyramid in the pool room, and one behind a timed hidden door on a fleshy ramp.
Why can't I get all pickups in Atlantis in Tomb Raider Remastered? At launch, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered had an Uzi ammo pickup in Atlantis that could not be collected. The Mar 12, 2024 patch fixed it, so update the game and replay the level.
