Generative AI in Legacy of Atlantis
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis's Steam page has said since June 2026 that AI-assisted tools were used during development for early exploration and temporary content, all replaced or refined by people. Crystal Dynamics says all finished content will be human-crafted; it has not said which assets were involved.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis's Steam page carries an AI Generated Content Disclosure saying that AI-assisted tools were used during development to support some early exploration and temporary development content, and that any AI-assisted assets were replaced or refined by people. The disclosure appeared after Sony's State of Play on Jun 2, 2026 and was still there on Nov 1, 2026. Crystal Dynamics' position is that it uses AI tools to iterate faster while all finished content in the final product is human-crafted. Which assets the tools touched, and whether any AI-refined asset ships in the game, has not been said as of Nov 2, 2026.

Who reported it
Rock Paper Shotgun's Mark Warren found the new disclosure and noted it had not been on the page on Apr 17, 2026. PC Gamer's Andy Chalk, Kotaku's Ash Parrish and GamingOnLinux reported it on Jun 3 and 4, 2026, as the trailer from the State of Play was drawing attention.
What Crystal Dynamics said
Crystal Dynamics gave Eurogamer a statement that it leverages AI tools to help its teams iterate on ideas faster and more efficiently, while ensuring that all finished content in the final product is human-crafted, as Shacknews reported. At Summer Game Fest a week later, Experience Director Jeff Adams gave several outlets, Polygon among them, the same account: AI is a tool that can help the team get to right answers faster, used to picture an object before it goes through the traditional pipeline.
In a Game Informer video interview, when Adams was asked how generated pieces get into the engine, a Crystal Dynamics PR representative ended the line of questions, saying the studio had said all it wanted to say about it. Kotaku's John Walker and TheGamer's Rhiannon Bevan both reported the exchange on Jun 11 and 12, 2026.
What Amazon said
Amazon Game Studios, the publisher, has made no separate statement on AI in this game in any source found for this page; the disclosure and the answers come from Crystal Dynamics. Flying Wild Hog, the co-developer, has not commented either in those sources.
The background reporters gave
Rock Paper Shotgun set the disclosure beside two earlier stories: Eurogamer's report of an AI mandate at Amazon Game Studios from mid-2024, tied to a canceled game, and Aspyr's removal of AI voice lines from Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered after the French voice actor Françoise Cadol took legal action. Neither story is about Legacy of Atlantis itself.
What is not known
As of Nov 2, 2026, Crystal Dynamics has not said which assets AI tools touched, how many, or whether any asset refined from AI output remains in the final game. The disclosure's wording ("replaced or refined") allows either. The rest of the game is on Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and press impressions on Legacy of Atlantis Previews.
