Tomb Raider: Catalyst is Crystal Dynamics' next all-new Tomb Raider game, set in Northern India and published by Amazon Game Studios. Official pages still say 2027, but Amazon Games' Jeffrey Gattis said 2028 in July 2026, and Amazon has given no date since.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst has no release date: it was announced at The Game Awards on Dec 11, 2025 for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and Crystal Dynamics' own page still says 2027 as of Nov 2, 2026, but Amazon Games' general manager Jeffrey Gattis said in July 2026 that it would follow Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis "in 2028", and Amazon has since said only that it has nothing new to share about timing. Catalyst is a new adventure, not a remake: Lara Croft, voiced by Alix Wilton Regan, races rival treasure hunters across Northern India after "a mythical cataclysm". Crystal Dynamics is making it alone, on Unreal Engine 5, and Amazon Game Studios publishes it.

When does Tomb Raider: Catalyst come out?
Not announced, and the sources disagree on the year. Three statements stand side by side as of Nov 2, 2026:

The press split on how to read this. KitGuru called it a quiet delay to 2028, while tbreak said it only "looks" delayed. Crystal Dynamics' Catalyst page still read 2027 on Nov 1, 2026. In August 2026, Collider cited unattributed "new reports" of a launch in the first four months of 2028; that is a report, not an announcement. No date or window has been confirmed as of Nov 2, 2026.
Where is Catalyst set?
Northern India. Crystal Dynamics' description places the story "in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened the mysterious forces that guard them", with the most notorious treasure hunters in the world descending on the region (Crystal Dynamics). Lara has to decide whom to trust among rivals and allies; the studio sums up the story as one "of trust and betrayal". No characters besides Lara have been named.
How big is it?
Crystal Dynamics bills it as "the largest Tomb Raider world yet". Studio Creative Director Noah Hughes described a seamless, vertical wilderness of mountains, deserts, jungles and ruins, with tombs full of puzzles and "richly customized adventure tech" for Lara. Kotaku described the plan as taking the formula "into a more open-world format". No gameplay has been shown, so how open the world is in practice is not known.
Where does Catalyst fit in the story?
After everything else. Game Director Will Kerslake told GamesRadar+ it "is set years after the events of Tomb Raider: Underworld", with the reboot trilogy as Lara's origin. In Crystal Dynamics' unified timeline, the trilogy that began with Tomb Raider (2013) comes first, then the 1996 adventure that Legacy of Atlantis retells, and Catalyst comes years after Tomb Raider: Underworld. Who is making it?
Crystal Dynamics alone. The studio says Catalyst has been in development since its 2022 partnership with Amazon Game Studios; Flying Wild Hog, which co-develops Legacy of Atlantis, "is not involved at all". The two games share technology, resources and assets, and both teams report to one leadership group, according to Head of Studio Scot Amos (Game Informer). Crystal Dynamics cut 20 more jobs in March 2026, its fourth round in 12 months, and said it "remains fully committed" to both announced games. Amazon's October 2025 cuts to its own game development left the partnership in place (GamesRadar+).
The teaser trailer
The only footage is the teaser shown at The Game Awards on Dec 11, 2025, with the Legacy of Atlantis announcement. Windows Central noted that it refers to Lara's struggles in the reboot trilogy. VideoGamer counted 838,000 views of it on PlayStation's channel in the first days. The official Catalyst page shows only the title, that trailer and wishlist links, and nothing new had been shown by late July 2026, per PSU, nor since, as of Nov 2, 2026.
What is not known
As of Nov 2, 2026: the release date or window, any gameplay, a Nintendo Switch 2 version, editions and price, other cast, and whether Catalyst gets a physical edition. Lara's voice is the one cast member announced: Alix Wilton Regan, who also plays her in Legacy of Atlantis.
